Two Corrections Officers were farewelled this morning at the Fiji Corrections Service National Headquarters in Suva before they leave for a two week training attachment in China.
Chief Logistics Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Corrections Kaliova Matakarawa and Suva Corrections Center Reception Officer, Corrections Officer Class A Mereadani Kiliraki were congratulated and also offered some direction by the Deputy Commissioner Auta Moceisuva in what is a first ever cost-sharing training initiative by the FCS and the Peopleโ€™s Republic of China.
โ€œThis is to reward you for your hard work which impacted greatly on your selection to attend this training as an investment for the FCS moving forward and so on behalf of the Commisioner, I want to wish you all the best for this trip,โ€™โ€™ Deputy Commissioner Moceisuva said.
โ€œWe acknowledge also the Ministry of Civil Service for supporting this new bilateral partnership arrangement with the Peopleโ€™s Republic of China and we hope to continue with this moving forward.โ€
Mr Moceisuva reminded the duo that China, as an advanced first world country, offered much in terms of learnings for them as individuals and as Corrections Officers.
โ€œSo please learn as much as possible when you are there, you will get the opportunity to see their systems and as part of your training they will also take you to places of historical and cultural significance and also to see their technological advancements which you must capture and ascertain what is appropriate to apply back here at home.โ€
ASC Matakarawa will be attending the seminar on Advancing Supply Chain Connectivity and Trade Facilitation Through E-Port in Shanghai from May 09-22 while COA Kiliraki will be attending the Seminar on Female Leadership Building for Developing Countries in Beijing from May 08-21.
Both will leave tomorrow morning.
