FCS Chapel, Korovou – The Fiji Corrections Service this afternoon held its Ash Wednesday Service at the FCS Chapel in Korovou, marking the beginning of the Lenten season.
The solemn service was led by the main celebrant, Father Edward Vakatora, and was attended by corrections officers, their families, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Apolosa Veve,

FCS Chaplain Reverend Iliesa Soita, and Supervisors.
In his homily, Fr Edward reminded congregants of the significance of repentance during Lent, emphasizing the call to spiritual renewal and humility. Reflecting on the verse,
โFor from dust you came, and to dust you shall return.โ
He urged officers and their families to live purposeful lives grounded in faith, service, and integrity.
Fr Edward also highlighted the importance of almsgiving, forgiveness, and fasting as key pillars of the Lenten journey.
He encouraged those present to embrace these practices wholeheartedly, noting that true repentance is demonstrated not only in words but through meaningful action and compassion towards others.
The service concluded with a renewed commitment among officers to uphold the values of discipline, humility, and service both within the institution and the wider community.
