The Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Auta Moceisuva, today formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) and the Macuata Provincial Council during the Macuata Provincial Council Meeting held in Naduri, Macuata.
The MOU establishes a collaborative framework aimed at strengthening the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates from Macuata back into their families and communities through coordinated support programs, information sharing, pre-release planning, and post-release development initiatives.
The partnership will see the establishment of the Macuata Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-Offenders (CARE) Network Committee, which will work closely with FCS to support inmates through rehabilitation programs, life skills training, spiritual welfare initiatives, community engagement, and reintegration efforts.
Accompanying the Acting Commissioner at the signing were Assistant Commissioner Corrections Operations Mr. Tuapati Kacivi, Supervisor Northern Division Superintendent Isireli Nataqa, and Rehabilitation Representative Assistant Superintendent Corrections Waisele Soqonakalou.
The agreement reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to reducing reoffending, promoting community responsibility, and ensuring former inmates are provided with meaningful opportunities to become productive and law-abiding citizens upon their release.
