The Acting Deputy Commissioner of Corrections, Mr Apolosa Veve, officially opened the Fiji Corrections Service Basic Recruit Training Course 1/25 earlier this morning at the Naboro Academy, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for the Serviceβs newest recruits.
Speaking on behalf of the Acting Commissioner of Corrections and the Fiji Corrections Service management team, Mr Veve welcomed the recruits and described the occasion as the start of βan incredible journey β one that will test your limits, push you to grow and shape you to become proud officers of the Fiji Corrections Service.β
Addressing the recruits directly, Mr Veve emphasised the importance of the Serviceβs core values, reminding them that βdiscipline, loyalty, courage, integrity and honour are not just words β they are the foundation of everything that we do.β He further highlighted that these values would serve as βyour compass in tough times, your shield in challenges, and your badge of pride in service.β
He further reminded recruits that the training goes beyond uniformed service, stressing that βthis journey is about becoming more than just correction officers β itβs about becoming leaders, mentors and guides of rehabilitation and reintegration back into our communities.β

In closing, Mr Veve called on the recruits to remain committed to their oath and to uphold the standards of the Service, encouraging them to βwork hard, stay true to our oath of allegiance and make the Fiji Corrections Service proud.β
With these remarks, the Acting Deputy Commissioner, alongside the Assistant Commissioner Administration, the Commandant, and the training team, officially declared the Fiji Corrections Service Basic Recruit Training Course 1/25 open.
