The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) joined the Annual General Meeting and Council Meeting of the Muslim League of Fiji today at Nadi Muslim College.
The Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Sevuloni Naucukidi, and Director of Training and Rehabilitation, Superintendent Isireli Dausiga, attended as invited guests.
Commissioner Naucukidi spoke about the challenges faced by Muslim inmates in Fiji, most of whom are from overseas and do not have families to support them outside prison walls. He said the Muslim League could play a vital role in filling this gap.
He also explained that inmates respond positively to religious guidance and that faith-based influence has proven to ease and strengthen rehabilitation.
He added that the involvement of the Muslim League would create a meaningful impact in helping these inmates reintegrate into society.

Superintendent Dausiga gave a presentation on inmate demographics. He highlighted the increasing number of Indo-Fijian and Muslim inmates over the past decade. He also shared the FCS’s new Five-Year Strategic Development Plan, with the theme “You Can Only Give What You Have.”
The President of the Fiji Muslim League, Haji Bsheer Ahmed thanked the Acting Commissioner and Director Training and Rehabilitation for taking time to attend and share with their forum. He said the presentation would not be missed during their Annual General Meeting discussions and assured their willingness to consider areas of partnership.
Today’s engagement reflects the FCS’s commitment to working with faith-based and community organizations. Building such partnerships creates stronger support systems for inmates and helps provide them with a second chance at life.
