The Fiji Corrections Service joined members of the Justice Ministry and other civil servants for the Civil Service Day Celebrations in Suva yesterday (June 04, 25)
The day began with a march through Suva town where all Government ministers led their respective ministries in a bright sea of colour’s as all departments came out with their custom made bula shirts and dresses to suit the occasion.
The Acting Prime Minister and Acting Minister for Civil Service Hon. Viliame Gavoka, reminded everyone in his opening address to reflect on this yearโs theme, โInspire Hope and Resilience in Combating Drugs and Violence Against Women in the Civil Serviceโ.
” I those stuck in the cycle of drug abuse to reach out and seek help, ” he said.
โAs civil servants, we need to set the standard and model what a drug-free and violence-free Fiji should be.โ
He urged all those experiencing domestic violence or any form of violence within the workforce to reach out to a colleague or friend as help is always available.
โYou, our civil servants, day in and day out serving the nation, often working late into the night, on public holidays and weekends, and very often in unfavourable weather conditions, especially for those serving our remote communities in the hard-to-reach, interior, rural and maritime areas.

” I sincerely hope that the three per cent increment will be significant in assisting you to cope with the challenges in carrying out your duties as civil servants, while at the same time assist you to provide for your families.โ
Meanwhile, the FCS tent exhibiting items from its Business Enterprise proved to be a big hit as civil servants and members of the public converged to purchase the handy work of inmates from farm produce, carved items and clothes and bags from the tailor unit.
The FCS Dance band kept every one smiling and in joyous celebration mood with their lively entertainment late into the afternoon.
