Fifty four Fiji Corrections and three His Majesty’s Prison, Tonga personnel graduated today with a Certificate in Correctional Practice (Level 5) at the FNU Graduation ceremony.
The Certificate in Correctional Practice (Level 5) is an entry-level qualification designed for new recruits and subordinate officers entering the Fiji Corrections system.
In his message to all FNU graduates gathered alongside the FCS personnel, Chief Guest and Fiji Development Bank CEO, Mr. Filimoni Waqabaca said graduates must embrace challenges and not fear it in order to grow.
“Leaders are not born, they are shaped by challenges. So let every challenge sharpen your reason, fuel your enthusiasm and determination to be an agent of change,” Mr Waqabaca said.
The new partnership between FNU and FCS which was launched in January this year also extends regionally with the inclusion of personnel from His Majesty’s Prison, Tonga.

This program equips participants with essential knowledge and practical skills necessary for an effective and professional career in corrections.
By focusing on the foundational elements of the corrections field, this certificate builds competence in areas such as legal frameworks, operational protocols, communication, ethics,

and safety practices, preparing officers for the responsibilities and challenges they will encounter in their roles.
The graduates were engaged in a combination of classroom and online learning and practical internships as part of their recruit training into the Service.
