
The Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Mr Sevuloni Naucukidi and four senior officers are currently attending the 43rd APCCA meeting in Seoul, Korea from 10-14 November, 25.
APCCA, or Asian and Pacific Conference of Correctional Administrators is a platform for government officials responsible for prison or correctional administration within the Asia-Pacific Region to share ideas and practices in the professional area of correctional administration and develop networks aimed at fostering co-operation and exchanging best practices in corrections (History of APCCA).
The week long annual conference is attended by correctional administrators from 24 countries within the Asia Pacific Region to share ideas and practices in the modern day prison system.
The FCS has been under a cloud of negative publicity due to the tribunal, but the commitment to pursue better opportunities to provide better services for our customers must continue, says Mr Naucukidi.

Accompanying the Acting Commissioner is the Assistant Commissioner Administration, Mr Rusiate Batiratu, Director Finance and Logistics, Superintendent John Mudunaivalu, Director Research and Planning, Superintendent Apolosa Veve and Director Rehabilitation and Training, Superintendent Isireli Dausiga.
Each made a presentation on key areas of operations, challenges and how the FCS plans to mitigate them moving on.
Fiji has been a regular participant in APCCA when it started in 1980 and has hosted twice in 1985 in Suva and 2017 in Nadi.
