Fiji Corrections Headquarters, Suva โ A profound sense of camaraderie and gratitude permeated the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) Headquarters today as Senior Superintendent Siulolo Tapuelulu, the attachรฉ from His Majestyโs Prisons โ Tonga to the FCS Training Academy, along with four Tongan recruits, bid farewell to the Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service. This memorable occasion included the presentation of farewell gifts, symbolizing their appreciation for the collaborative experience shared during the FCS Basic Recruitment Course 01 of 2024.
As the four Tongan recruits, namely Taise Manuรกtu, Mele Stewart, Siosiua Taumoefolau, and Fakaofo Tonga; prepare to graduate from the 14 week training program in Naboro, the atmosphere was tinged with nostalgia. The display of tears of appreciation from the Tongan delegation highlighted the strong bonds forged during their time in Naboro. In response, the Commissioner reciprocated with gifts and conveyed heartfelt wishes for their future endeavors as they prepare to return to Tonga.
During his remarks, the Commissioner commended the Tongan recruits for their unwavering perseverance and dedication, emphasizing their position in a significant milestone within the history of regional training programs. โYou are the first trainees from the region within the Corrections Profession in Fiji, and this groundbreaking collaboration between the Republic of Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga represents a transformative step in our united commitment to professional development,โ he stated, underscoring the importance of their journey.

This collaborative initiative has not only enhanced the skills of the recruits but has also fostered a robust spirit of cooperation between our nationsโ correctional services. The exchange of knowledge and experiences has reinforced our shared dedication to creating safer communities through improved rehabilitation practices.
As they prepare for the Basic Recruitment Course pass out parade tomorrow, Friday, 14 March 2025, the Fiji Corrections Service eagerly anticipates the continuation of this collaborative journey, hoping to strengthen ties with other countries within the region.
