Labasa – The Fiji Corrections Service today paid its final respects to late Corrections Officer Class C, 73709 Kaushik Kushal Chand, during a solemn funeral procession held in Labasa. The service brought together family members, colleagues, and senior officials to honour a life dedicated to duty, humility, and service to the nation.
Present at the procession were the Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Auta Moceisuva, Acting Deputy Commissioner Mr. Apolosa Veve, along with senior officers and other ranks. In a moving tribute, the Acting Commissioner presented the national flag to Mrs Chand, the late officerโs wife, symbolising the Serviceโs deep appreciation for his commitment and sacrifice.

The eulogy delivered by the Officer in Charge (OC) Labasa Corrections Centre, highlighted Officer Chandโs journey in the Fiji Corrections Service, from his enlistment in May 2022 to his most recent role as a custodial officer at Labasa Correctional Centre. He was remembered as a dependable and professional officer who carried out his duties with dignity, compassion, and an unwavering sense of responsibility.
Officer Chandโs legacy was described as one of service beyond selfโan officer who not only upheld the values of the institution but also touched the lives of those around him. As the Service bids farewell, his dedication and spirit will continue to inspire those who remain.
