The Fiji Corrections Service commenced a two-day symposium on Wednesday (4/6/25/ to 5/6/25) at the Pearl Resort, as part of the consultation process to discuss strategies to implement its strategic and annual plans. The event was attended by the Acting Commissioner of Corrections, senior officers from all divisions, and external stakeholders including government agencies, NGO and faith based organisation’s.
The symposium’s primary objective is to identify areas of improvements to develop its strategies that would enhance the Fiji Corrections Service’s overall performance especially as it relates to its operational effectiveness. The Fiji Corrections Service invited key stakeholders, including external partners to collaborate and share insights in building its plans.
The Fiji Corrections Service’s core role is to provide safety, security and rehabilitation of the inmates. The alignment of its priorities

with the national development plan is critical in ensuring that its efforts contribute to Fiji’s wider national security strategies.
The exercise aims to provide a platform for the stakeholders to share insights given their diverse expertise to contribute towards an inclusive and forward looking plan.
