Today, the Fiji Corrections Service bid farewell to K9 Yugo, who faithfully served under the care and companionship of K9 Handler, Corrections Officer Class C (COC) Nasoni Rokoriva, in the Western Division.
K9 Yugo was the first canine to be laid to rest at the newly established K9 Burial Site in Naboro, following its official opening on 4 May 2024 by then Acting Commissioner, Mrs. Salote Panapasa.
Donated to the Fiji Corrections Service by the Fiji Police Force in 2020, K9 Yugo completed his formal training and successfully passed out on 27 April 2023. Throughout his service, he was highly regarded as a skilful tracker dog with a persevering heart and determination in every task assigned to him.
In his eulogy, COC Rokoriva spoke with deep emotion about the unbreakable bond he shared with K9

Yugo, highlighting his loyalty, courage, and unwavering commitment to duty.
K9 Yugo passed away on 2 September 2025 after being admitted with a severe heart-related illness.
Also in attendance at today’s ceremony were former K9 Handlers, Mr. Uliano Vueti and Mr. Seveci Naisilisili, alongside the Officer in Charge of the Fiji Police Force K9 Unit, Inspector Sevuloni Waqa.
The Fiji Corrections Service extends its gratitude to K9 Yugo for his dedicated service and honors his legacy as the first to rest at the K9 Monument Site in Naboro.
