Earlier this aftenoon 30 Non Commissioned Officers (NCO’s) graduated in a passout parade after completing their COB/COA Leadership Promotional Course 1/25 at the Fiji Corrections Academy in Naboro.
The inspecting officer and chief guest was the Deputy Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Auta Moceisuva.
The parade commenced with a one-minute moment of silence in honor of the late COB, Joseph Naivalu, as a mark of respect and condolence to his family and the Fiji Corrections Service.
COB Naivalu passed away in a tragic road accident on Wednesday evening, near Kalokolevu Village.
Deputy Commissioner Moceisuva gave his condolences to the Fiji Corrections Academy on the loss of their fellow comrade, COB Joseph Naivalu.
In his address, he emphasized that the ranks worn by the graduating officers are a symbol of utmost discipline, requiring them to be exemplary men and women who can effectively communicate with inmates, their comrades, and senior officers.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that “you must be able to implement tasks and orders given by your senior officers, from your Institutional OC’s, Chiefs and Duty Officers, and uphold the values of discipline and professionalism within the Fiji Corrections Service.”

The graduation pass out parade marked a significant milestone for the 30 corrections officers who completed the course as now they are in line for promotions or permanent placings as NCOs.
Also additionally, during the formalities, COB Marika Sigawale was promoted to the rank of Principal Corrections Officer (PCO), in recognition of his outstanding leadership skills as Duty Officer at the Minimum Corrections Center.
The Fiji Corrections Service congratulates the graduands on their achievement and looks forward to their continued service.
