The Veilomani Boys Home in Ba marked a significant milestone yesterday by hosting its first-ever Family Funday, an emotional and uplifting event graced by the Assistant Commissioner of Corrections Operations (ACCO), Mr. Alevio Turaganivalu, as Chief Guest.
The celebration began with a march led by the Fiji Corrections Service Band , starting from Xavier College to the Boys Home. This helped set the celebration tone for the day.
Among the many heartfelt moments of the day was the emotional reunion of an inmate from Lautoka Womenโs Corrections Centre, LW Seniana Marama, with her son, Saula Drose, who is currently residing at the Boys Home.
The two cherished the moment togetherโwhich began with a teary reunion then affection and laughter, a simple display of the bond between a mother and child which is never lost despite the circumstances life puts you through.
ACCO Turaganivalu commended the initiative, stating that such occasions are vital in the rehabilitative journey of inmates, allowing them to reconnect with family and reaffirm their roles in society.

โThis isnโt just a fun dayโitโs a life-changing opportunity for healing, reconnection, and a reminder that family is a cornerstone of rehabilitation,โ he shared.
The Family Funday stands as a testament to the Fiji Corrections Serviceโs commitment to holistic rehabilitationโone that goes beyond walls and uniforms and focuses on restoring lives through dignity, love, and family support.
