The Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Sevuloni Naucukidi and senior staff of the FCS made a presentation to the members of the Shree Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji at its meeting today (15/6/25) in Nadroga. The FCS was invited to conduct an awareness programme to the senior leaders of the organisation regarding its roles and functions. The discussion also centred around the role that the Sabah could play by partnering with the FCS to enhance the social re-integration of offenders back to the community upon release.
The Acting Commissioner thanked the management of the Sabah for the invitation indicating the genuine desire to assist in the offender reintegration process. Mr Naucukidi said, “it was indeed a privilege to be present at the meeting” held at the Andra High School compound in Nadroga. The Acting Commissioner added, “that this would be the beginning of future engagements with the organisation to map out a pathway that will result in bringing a degree of certainty to the offenders upon release back to the community.
The Trustee of Sabha, Mr Mahesh Mishra expressed deep gratitude to the FCS by engaging with the organisation at the meeting and was ready to assist FCS in advancing the offenders community release programmes. This engagement will start by visiting their members in the correctional facility which will radiate to all the centres across Fiji.
The FCS is adamant that with the public support and partnership forged today, will go a longway as it would serve the interest of the offenders to meaningfully return to their communities upon release. This will ensure that the offenders have a purpose driven life that will avoid reoffending.
Together with the communities supporting the reintergation process, FCS is committed to contribute towards a resilient and a safer Fiji.
