The UNODC delegation, comprising International Expert for Corrections Mr. Terry Hacket, Fiji Coordinator Ms. Megumi Hara, Mr. Kazunari Takabe and UNODC Fiji Media representative Ms. Seyoung Park, were thoroughly briefed by Director Planning, Research and Policy, Superintendent Jone Biu, prior to their tour.

The delegation was escorted by Acting Assistant Commissioner of Corrections Operations, Mr. Tuapati Kacivi, together with the FCS Unit Directors, during their tour of the central divisional facilities in Korovou.

The visit included the Suva Women’s Corrections Centre Tailor Unit and the Tagimoucia Art Gallery, providing the delegates with an insight into FCS rehabilitation, vocational training and reintegration initiatives.

The delegation will continue its institutional visits tomorrow, including tours of the Nasinu Corrections Centre and the Maximum Corrections Centre.

The visits form part of the lead-up to the two-day regional conference, co-convened by UNODC and FCS, which will be held on 10–11 September 2026 at the Holiday Inn, Suva. The conference will bring together senior corrections officials and regional partners to examine the role of correctional systems in responding to Transnational Organized Crime in Prisons.
