FCS Coffee Shop, Suva – The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) has reached a significant milestone in professional development and institutional training with the accreditation of its Certificate in Correctional Practices (Management) – Level 4 by the Higher Education Commission of Fiji (HECF).The accreditation formally recognises the programme delivered by the Fiji Corrections Service Training Academy as meeting the national requirements under the Fiji National Qualifications Framework.
The Certificate in Correctional Practices (Management) – Level 4 is accredited by the Fiji National Qualifications Council in accordance with the Higher Education (Qualifications) Regulations 2010.
The accreditation is effective from 23 July 2026 to 22 July 2031, marking a five-year period of national recognition for the programme.
The accreditation certificate was formally handed over by the Director of the Higher Education Commission of Fiji, Dr. Eci Tekuru Naisele, to the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Apolosa Veve, during a ceremony held to acknowledge the achievement.
The milestone represents an important step in strengthening the professional and academic development of FCS personnel, ensuring that correctional training is delivered through a nationally recognised qualification framework.
The accreditation also provides a foundation for the continued development of structured learning pathways for corrections officers, particularly in management, leadership and contemporary correctional practices.
For the Fiji Corrections Service, the recognition demonstrates the organisation’s continued commitment to professionalising the corrections workforce, strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring that its personnel receive quality, relevant and nationally recognised training.
The achievement further reinforces the role of the FCS Training Academy in developing a competent and professionally equipped workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of modern corrections.
