𝐅𝐢𝐣𝐢 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞, 𝟕𝟎𝟗𝟗𝟑 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐮 𝐕𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐠𝐨

The funeral ceremony for the late Superintendent Vucago was held today at the Centenary Methodist Church in Suva, where his family, QVS classmates and colleagues gathered to remember his life, character and contribution to the nation.

Prior to the church service, a Reguregu was performed at the late Superintendent Vucago’s residence in Domain, led by the Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General, Hon. Siromi Turaga, who was accompanied by the Assistant Minister for Justice, Hon. Ratu Josaia Niudamu, Permanent Secretary Ms. Selina Kuruleca, Acting Commissioner of Corrections Mr. Auta Moceisuva, and officers and staff of the Fiji Corrections Service.

Superintendent Vucago was remembered as a humble, soft-spoken and dedicated gentleman, known for carrying out his duties without question and serving with commitment and professionalism. His colleagues recalled a man who was always willing to share his wisdom, knowledge and experience with those around him, particularly younger officers seeking guidance.

Having enlisted into the Fiji Corrections Service on 6 July 1995, at just 20 years of age. Throughout his career, he excelled in his duties as a Corrections Officer while simultaneously pursuing his academic aspirations.

His dedication to learning saw him graduate from the University of the South Pacific School of Law, before being admitted to the Bar in 2012. His achievement reflected the determination and discipline that characterised both his professional and personal life.

After 31 years of service, Superintendent Vucago passed away while holding the position of Director Human Resources for the Fiji Corrections Service—a position entrusted with one of the Service’s most important responsibilities: its people.

His passing represents a profound loss to the Fiji Corrections Service. Beyond his rank and professional achievements, he will be remembered as a mentor, colleague, leader and comrade whose willingness to impart his knowledge helped shape the officers who served alongside him.

Today, the Service stood together with his family and loved ones to honour a life dedicated to public service.
