Four officers of the Fiji Corrections Service have returned to the country after successfully completing advanced tactical training at the Corrections Academy in Hong Kong.
The officers undertook a series of intensive courses that combined both theoretical instruction and practical application.
These included the Certificate in Safe and Effective Control Tactics, the Certificate in Close Quarter Defence and Control Techniques, as well as additional specialised training related to correctional response forcesโ anti-riot tactics.
The training was designed to enhance the capabilities of frontline corrections and law enforcement officers by equipping them with effective self-defence and control techniques that emphasise a low level of harm.
This approach aims to reduce the risk of injury to both officers and individuals being controlled, while maintaining operational effectiveness and safety in high-risk situations.

The four officers who completed the training are:
Principal Corrections Officer Vikatore Leawere
Corrections Officer Class A Sakiasi Nadroge
Corrections Officer Class B Suluo Seeto
Corrections Officer Class C Tomasi Gaunavinaka
The Fiji Corrections Service acknowledges the successful completion of this international training and recognises the officersโ commitment to professional development and capacity building.
The skills and knowledge gained are expected to strengthen the Serviceโs operational readiness across Fiji.
