

The Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Sevuloni Naucukidi, this morning officially launched the Armed Native Constabulary (ANC) Ratu Cakobau Bowl, an annual sporting event between the Fiji Corrections Service and the Fiji Police Force.
The launch took place at the Korovou Coffee Shop in Suva, marking the beginning of this yearβs build-up to the much-anticipated rugby match on October 31st.
Gracing the event as Chief Guest was the President of the Fiji Corrections Retired Servicemen Association, Mr. Sairusi Gauna, alongside the Fiji Police Force Acting Commissioner, Mr. Apolosi Lutunauga.
In his remarks, Mr. Naucukidi highlighted the importance of the ANC Ratu Cakobau Bowl in strengthening the bond between the two disciplined forces. He shared the history of both institutions, which dates back to 1874, when the Fiji Corrections Service and the Fiji Police Force originated as one under the Armed Native Constabulary.
The Acting Commissioner also expressed his excitement for the upcoming rugby match, which will be held on Friday, 31st October 2025, at the Albert Park Grounds in Suva.


He encouraged both teams to compete in the true spirit of camaraderie, discipline, and unity that has long defined the relationship between the two services.
The Fiji Police Force, on the other hand have accepted the challenge and said they looked forward to an exciting week which will culminate in the challenge.
He further stressed that although both teams will be divided briefly during the challenge, off the field they actually belonged to one family.
