
The Acting Commissioner, Mr Auta Moceisuva is in Vienna on the invitation of the UNODC to attend the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice from 1 to 5 June 2026.
On the margins of the main meeting, the Acting Commissioner had meetings with the UNODC’s penal and prisons reform Team as well as the UNODC HIV Team to discuss strategic areas of assistance to address reform initiatives and HIV Aids strategies to combat the disease in prison.

The Acting Commissioner is expected to participate in a plenary session to speak on the topic ” Advancing Penal Reform in the Island contexts: perspectives from the Carribean and the Pacific.
On a bilateral level, the Acting Commissioner and the Prison Service Division, Corrections Bureau, Ministry of Justice, Japan led by Mr Tamekuni Hiroaki also met to revisit collaborations regarding potential enhancement of infrastructure development, digitization and the furtherance of the Kyoto Model Strategy (KMS).
This is an opportunity to project the Fiji Corrections Service at a high level meeting to share experiences and challenges with other countries participating in the same meeting.
