FCS took out top award at the 2014 Service Excellence Awards that was held at the Novotel Hotel in Suva.

The Fiji Corrections Service is currently on a high after winning the Prime Minister’s Award at the Service Excellence Awards that was held at the Novotel Hotel  in Lami last night.

The hard work of the officers, inmates and families paid off as they scooped the major award which was indeed a historical moment for the department.

An elated Commissioner of Corrections, Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu said that the award was only possible through the concerted efforts of all of the Corrections families and their supporters.

“I would like thank all the staff and their families, the inmates and their families, the business community as well as those who have been supporting us all throughout,” said Mr. Vasu.

“We had contested for the award and I believe through sheer hard work and commitment shown by everyone, we finally proved that we can deliver the mandates that have been set by Government,” he added.

He went on to say that the Rehabilitation and Yellow Ribbon Programme has played a huge role in the success of the department.

“We have certainly taken care of the needs of our inmates as well as our officers and I believe that this is how we achieved the award today.”

“From behind the walls to their successful re-integration back into their families and communities, I believe we have indeed come a long way and now the biggest challenge is for us to main the standards that we have set as an organisation,” said Mr. Vasu.

Mr. Vasu added that the FCS will be aiming for the award again next year.
