Cunningham, Suva – The Minister for Justice, Hon. Siromi Turaga, and Fiji Corrections Service Director for Rehabilitation, Education and Training, Superintendent Isireli Dausiga, joined members of the Joritani Methodist Church in Cunningham today, where they shared awareness on the justice system and the importance of rehabilitation.Speaking during the service, Hon. Turaga emphasized that rehabilitation is a shared responsibility and cannot be achieved by the Fiji Corrections Service alone. He encouraged families, the Vanua, faith-based organisations and the wider community to work together in supporting former inmates as they reintegrate into society.
Superintendent Dausiga highlighted that while the Fiji Corrections Service prepares inmates through education, vocational training, counselling and other rehabilitation programmes, lasting change depends on the acceptance, guidance and opportunities provided by the people, the Vanua and the Church upon their release.
The Fiji Corrections Service continues to strengthen partnerships with communities and faith-based organisations, recognising that successful reintegration not only transforms lives but also contributes to safer families, stronger communities and a more secure Fiji.
