The sermon this morning was based on Joel 2:12-13, which calls for sincere repentance, humility and a genuine return to God. Reverend Soita reminded officers that their responsibility extends beyond security to rehabilitation, guidance and supporting positive change among inmates.

The Acting Commissioner of Corrections acknowledged and thanked officers and their families for their continued commitment, sacrifices and support over the past few months.

The Acting Commissioner also highlighted the beginning of the new financial year, describing it as an important period for renewed planning, accountability and service delivery. He encouraged officers to reflect on past achievements, strengthen priorities and ensure organisational resources are used responsibly to meet FCS objectives.

Addressing the recent incident involving the alleged assault of an inmate, the Acting Commissioner reinforced the Service’s zero-tolerance position towards assault, abuse or mistreatment of inmates. He reminded officers that security and discipline must always be upheld alongside respect for human dignity, professionalism and the rights of every person in custody.

The service concluded with an emphasis on unity, faith, accountability and professionalism. Officers and their families were encouraged to remain committed to the values of the Fiji Corrections Service while supporting one another in fulfilling the organisation’s mandate of safe custody, rehabilitation and reintegration.
