The Fiji Corrections Service, this afternoon signed a new $4.5M partnership venture with E-Tech Engineering Pte Ltd to carry out development and upgrading works at the existing Nasinu Cemetery.
Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Mr Auta Moceisuva met with company Director, Ashneel Singh and lead consultants for the project from NRW Macallan Fiji Ltd, this afternoon at the National Headquarters for the signing.
The process had taken around 3-years to finalise amongst the public concerns on the space availability and Mr Moceisuva thanked the lead contractor for their persistence in seeing it through with the FCS despite the challenges.
โOn behalf of the Fiji Corrections Service, I would like to thank you for persevering with us as this has been a long standing project, I know we were a bit frustrated last year and we couldnโt implement it due to documentation and process issues with our financial systems in place.
โBut now we have signed the contract and are now partnering to get this project off the ground which is very important to the public in as far as space is concerned in the cemetery.

โFor us, it is vital that this project is completed on time, as the available space we have currently is very small and will not last us long and maybe even exhausted in this first quarter.
The project aims to create around 17,000 plots which should take the FCS through to the next 7-years at the current death rate.
Mr Moceisuva adds that on behalf of Government, they hope that the money invested and relationship forged today will take them through to the realization of what the Government wants the FCS and contractors to achieve at the end.
E-Tech Director Mr Ashneel Singh, thanked the FCS and Government of the day for the opportunity and said his team is already on the ground in Nasinu to construct their site office for the operations on the ground.
โWe thank you for the sincere appreciation offered today and the beginning of this new relationship. From our side we really appreciate that you have considered our company for this very important project which impacts the public, and we assure you that we will proactively and with due diligence carry this work until the end.
